Il Poggione Rosso Di Montalcino

Rosso di Montalcino is a younger, more accessible version of the Brunello, but already with an excellent structure and a great personality. Produced entirely from Sangiovese grapes, Rosso di Montalcino is aged for 12 months in oak before a period of bottle aging. The wood aging tones down the tannins typical of a young Sangiovese and gives this wine a complexity of aroma and structure that make it a great "Young Brunello". Intense ruby red in colour, on the nose it shows red berry notes. Very well structured, yet soft on the palate, it is very persistent with smooth, velvety tannins. Il Poggione has always received great awards in the most important wine guides and magazines: its Brunello 2010 was number 4 in the top 100 Wines of the World by Wine Spectator.
